Space Manager for WindowsTM

FAQs

No. 30:                       Is your software web based so that corporate headquarters can download and/or review date on a real time basis?

YES, with the installation of the appropriate infrastructure.

Space Manager uses a client/server architecture that allows for the broadest possible range of installation and accessibility options.

Our software can be set up as a single site installation where the client and server elements of the program are both installed at the required site. Headquarters can then access the site via a dial-in connection, Internet connection or WAN/VPN. Once connected the remote PC could be controlled by a suitable remote connectivity solution.

Alternatively, Space Manager automatically maintains a log of all database activity. This log is a supplement to the main database and is a simple text file. However, it can be used to rebuild a database by applying the changes to a database after it was last backed up. It would therefore be a simple matter to send this log of a site’s activity, via email, to Headquarters in order to synchronize a copy of the site’s database held there. This would both allow headquarters access to a copy of the site’s data whenever required and form the basis of a secondary backup system to guard against backup failure.

However, our program is designed to allow for multi-site installation where the client element of the program is located at the site and the server element (database) is located at a central location, to which all sites connect. This connection would most probably be in the form of a WAN/VPN via broad band connection such as leased line or DSL.

This arrangement not only allows for real-time data analysis by headquarters, it also allows for full integration of distributed sites and for HQ to perform centralized functions. These could include centralized processing of payments, central call center dealing with all sites, a web client link to allow customers to access site information in real-time via the internet, to name but a few.

As mentioned earlier, It would also be possible to group sites together by location, allowing for any user at any grouped site to access and manage customers at their own or other group sites. This could include invoice production, access control, customer photo storage, customer account management etc.
