A service transferred from XP to Win 7 Will not start

Hint Ref: 021108230008
Hint Date: 23/08/2011

Hint Details:

ISSUE:

A user upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and set up a Sybase service with exactly the same configuration options.

However, when they tried to start the new service, the process appeared to hang with the message 'Start Pending'.  Looking at the service within the control panel showed that the service was 'Starting'.

SOLUTION:

The old service was set to use ServerPort 49153. Removing this port requirement solved the problem.
