Report seems to ignore report ORDER BY

Hint Ref: 021201040006
Hint Date: 04/01/2012

Hint Details:

PROBLEM:

When running a report from the 'Reports' tab on either the Customer, Contract or Unit Selector, the report seems to ignore the ORDER BY statement in the SQL Pipeline.

ISSUE:

When running a report from one of these Report Tabs, the report SQL is automatically passed the ORDER BY statement which controls the order in which the records to be reported on appear on the 'Selection' tab of the Selector Form.

If you change the order of the records in this list (by selecting one of the column headings ( where it is permitted ) for example), this new order will be passed to the report.

SOLUTION:

If you want the report to determine itself how the displayed report records appear, select the report from the list on the 'Reports' tab of the appropriate Selector and click the 'Edit' button.

Place a tick in the check box: Preserve Report Order

Click 'Save & Close'
