'Unknown Error' trying to add new SM service in Windows 2007 Server

Hint Ref: 020907080001
Hint Date: 08/07/2009

Hint Details:

ISSUE:

Whilst trying to set up a new Space Manager database service on a Windows 2007 server, the user got the error message 'Unknown Error' when they clicked the 'Finish' button in Sybase Central.

The User was logged on as a user with Administrator rights and it still failed to work when logged on as the actual 'Administrator'.

However the database could be started manually from within Sybase Central.

SOLUTION:

The solution was to right-click on the Sybase Central icon on the desktop and select 'Run as Administrator'

This allowed the service to be created successfully.
