Hint Ref: 020909250001
Hint Date: 25/09/2009

Hint Details:

The Net Stop and Net Start commands are available in 64 bit Windows 2008 but as with many items they must be 'Run as Administrator'. Being an administrator or using the administrator login will not work If not run as administrator an Error 5 will be returned that Access is Denied.

To "Run as Administrator' right click on the command prompt icon and choose to "Run As Administrator". It should now be possible to run net stop and net start to sto and start windows services.

If a batch file is being run the same principle applies - right click on the batch file and choose to "Run As Administrator".

If a batch file is being run as a scheduled task right click on the task once it has been created and on the General TAB tick the box to "Run with highest privileges".
